Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2001 00:39:25 +0100 Nope, it seems the way forward is good old Reliant HA, NSC will continue to be availible for some time though although, being an NSC user myself, we are being urged off it and todays meetining confirmed that NSC is not the way forward, so much so that NSC licences can be swapped for RHA ones. Compaq are cutting costs (allegedly) and regardless of if you were ever informed of it or not, NSC was a Compaq product sold under the UnicWare banner, so hence that this now takes a back seat for Compaq and SCO/Caldera, so the oficial stance seems to be with RHA and Volution rather than the single system image.

The guy that I had come in was ex-SCO, now Caldera so make of that what you
will! Also this was backed up by one of our hardware suppliers who are close
to Compaq who suggest that 'someone' is possibly looking at a trade in deal
for some of the proprietry hardware that is unique / used by NSC in a lot of
cases.

Bit of a pisser really as I was just looking forward to another pair of NSC
machines and now I'm left looking at options again rather than going with
the NSC option that I have to admit I have been very impressed with.

I'll let you know if I get anything else exciting!

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
