Yes -- you would be a good candidate for Radek Tomis' utility `fsrd`.
Go to ftp://ftp.armory.com/pub/user/rts/fsrd/ , play around...

What you're looking for is something like:

  fsrd -f S51K /dev/[whole-disk-device] search -h

This will produce a lot of hard-to-understand output which _does_ have
what you're looking for in it.  Plus a lot of chaff.  ;-}
