I'd suggest looking into Hylafax.

(you should check task manager right now to see whether it is running or not). this the program that "listens" to output sent to that "port" and redirects it to the vsi program, after which it tries to log on to the vsi server to get the fax transmitted.
you might also want to navigate down to the vsi programs directory and try the send.exe by itself to see that it can properly find and login to your server. also note that the vsifax client has gone through several iterations, perhaps yours is old enough that it is not supported on win xp/2k, or if it was the existing install from w/95 and you didn't reinstall for xp you might want to try that - you also may want to contact vsi (now esker) to see what the newest windows client is that you can use with your older vsifax3 generation server - you may be able to just download a newer client. --- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - --- -Joe Chasan- Magnatech Business Systems, Inc. joe@magnatechonline.com Hicksville, NY - USA http://www.MagnatechOnline.com Tel.(516) 931-4444/Fax.(516) 931-1264

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.
Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
