   Only following my directions... I hadn't tried installing the supplement
   on OSR502, just the driver.  I now realize that the packaging of the "Wd
   Driver Supplement" is incompatible with OSR502.  It's incompatible on a
   level that would be difficult to fix in the field.

   Fortunately, the "wd Btld" contains exactly the same stuff, and
   shouldn't have this packaging problem.  I previously said:

   " ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/drivers/OSR507/btld/wdsupp/.  Do not
   " use the BTLD from ../wd; it won't work on OSR502.

   What I really meant was that it won't work as _at boot time_.  You
   should be able to install it at runtime: go to single-user mode, mount a
   floppy containing the BTLD on /mnt, and run:

     btldinstall /mnt

     It asks which BTLD; tell it "wd506".  This installs the
     OSR506-compatible version of the BTLD.  At that point your kernel will
     not be able to link until you patch /etc/conf/pack.d/wd/space.c with the
     swab() function I previously posted.

     Once again, I think this will work but I haven't tested it.  I have root
     access to an OSR502 machine, but it isn't "mine" and I shouldn't do
     drastic things like installing a BTLD.  I was able to test the kernel
     linking aspect because that can be done by just moving aside a couple of
     files temporarily.  If you test it, please let me know (1) if you got it
     to link in, (2) if it booted, (3) if you saw any performance change.
