I worked for 4-5 hours unsuccessfully trying all permutations of boot strings with OSS463B since my SCSI CD ROM was on the ASUS P2L97-S on-board SCSI controller and the RAID 5 array is on the Mylex controller. I was installing SCO 5.0.4 Enterprise. I called Mylex tech support and was advised to follow the example in the book exactly as it would work. It did.

The following is the working setup:

Boot the OSS463B N0 disk with the command

defbootstr ahslink=mdac Sdsk=mdac(0,0,0,1) Srom=alad(0,0,5,0)

Provide the Mylex MDAC driver disk shipped with the product when
asked for the mdac BTLD disk.

Note that the mdac(0,0,0,1) IS CORRECT and not a typo: Mylex requires
the use of the LUN to specify the system disks provided by the RAID
software.

Note that this was on SCO 5.0.4. Ahslink is the old archaic form of link
and will probably work on 3.2v4.2. You might also look at downloading
oss429a to get the latest btld code.

Many of the products and books I review are things I purchased for my own use. Some were given to me specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I resell or can earn commissions from the sale of some of these items. Links within these pages may be affiliate links that pay me for referring you to them. That's mostly insignificant amounts of money; whenever it is not I have made my relationship plain. I also may own stock in companies mentioned here. If you have any question, please do feel free to contact me.

Specific links that take you to pages that allow you to purchase the item I reviewed are very likely to pay me a commission. Many of the books I review were given to me by the publishers specifically for the purpose of writing a review. These gifts and referral fees do not affect my opinions; I often give bad reviews anyway.
