All I can say is that I got fed up with VisionFS hanging (1.2 and 3.0) and
so moved to Samba in a fit of pique one morning (on OSR5 and Solaris 2.5.1).
Both installations have been running happily for 9 months now and anecdotal
evidence would suggest that Samba is WAY faster.
