: Error message: : dynamic linker : /usr/java2/bin/../bin/x86at/green_threads/java : could : not open libhpi.so When this happens it's usually because the LD_LIBRARY_PATH that the /usr/java2/bin/java wrapper script doesn't get honoured by the operating system, and that's usually because the desktop window (xterm, dtterm, whatever) has some special privilege. -- Jonathan Schilling
